The case for joining
Most societies in India are not failing because the people are unwilling. They are failing because the record-keeping is impossible to sustain by hand — and everything else follows from that. Here is what actually changes when your society comes online.
The single most common failure in a registered society is institutional memory loss. The register is in the outgoing secretary's cupboard; the accounts are in a diary; the minutes book is missing three years. When the committee changes, the new office bearers inherit almost nothing and start again.
What SocietyConnect does
A society must file its annual return, get accounts audited, file ITR-7, hold an AGM and renew 12A/80G/FCRA before expiry. Miss these and you face penalties — or lose the exemptions your donors depend on. Most societies miss them not from negligence, but because nobody was tracking the dates.
What SocietyConnect does
A society without a web presence is invisible to everyone who might help it. Donors cannot verify you exist. Funding agencies cannot assess you. Young members cannot find you. A printed pamphlet does not answer any of those questions.
What SocietyConnect does
Trust in a community organisation is built on being able to answer one question convincingly: where did the money go? A handwritten cash book cannot answer it to a donor, an auditor or a sceptical member.
What SocietyConnect does
Grant money exists. Most small societies never see it, because opportunities circulate through personal networks and the application processes assume a professionalised NGO. Being organised and visible is what changes that.
What SocietyConnect does
This one is worth stating plainly, because it is unusual: SocietyConnect never holds, pools or routes your donations. Money moves from the donor to your society's own bank or UPI account directly, and we take no percentage of it.
What SocietyConnect does
Participation collapses when members cannot see what is happening. Notices reach a WhatsApp group that half the members left, and nobody knows who actually voted.
What SocietyConnect does
Digital systems often add work. This one is built to remove it: the register updates itself when you admit a member, the accounts update when you record a receipt, the compliance calendar updates when you file.
What SocietyConnect does
Unlimited members, unlimited donations, unlimited events and all 35 modules are on the free plan, permanently. We charge only for optional capabilities — a custom domain, AI assistance, advanced analytics — that a well-funded organisation may want and a village club does not need.
What SocietyConnect does
A registered society is stronger when it is not isolated. The platform connects societies to each other, to donors and to institutions that fund grassroots work.
What SocietyConnect does
Being straight about the limits is part of being worth trusting. Please read this before you register.
We are not a government body
SocietyConnect is a private platform operated by Sahaj Connect. We have no official standing, no affiliation with any department, and no authority over registrations.
We cannot register your society for you
Only the Registrar of Societies can grant registration. We prepare sample documents from your details and guide the process — you file, and the Registrar decides.
Our documents are drafts, not legal advice
Registration documents produced here are sample drafts prepared from the information you give us. Have them verified by the Registrar or your advocate before filing.
We do not handle your donation money
Donations settle directly into your own bank account. We never hold or route funds, which also means we cannot recover a payment made in error — your bank or gateway handles that.
